Have you ever felt like you’ve done all the work - therapy, journaling, tapping, protocols, even digging into your past - and yet your symptoms still aren’t shifting?
You’re not alone.
People don’t get stuck because they’re lazy or not trying hard enough. They get stuck because, without realizing it, they’ve been skipping key steps in their healing.
And here’s the tricky part - most people don’t even realize they’re skipping steps until someone points it out.
In this blog, I’ll walk you through the six biggest signs you might be skipping steps in your healing - and what happens when you stop skipping and finally start healing in sequence.
Sign 1: You Push Outside Your Comfort Zone & Symptoms Flare
You’ve probably had this happen: you do something bold - set a boundary, speak up, or take action toward your “new self.” You feel empowered… until the symptoms hit.
You panic. You assume you did something wrong.
But here’s the truth: those symptoms aren’t proof you messed up. They’re signs that your body is discharging old patterns - part of the healing process itself.
The real issue is that no one taught you that symptoms can be a good sign. No one helped you build the foundation of safety your subconscious needed before taking that leap.
So instead of interpreting symptoms as healing, you interpret them as danger - and that interpretation keeps your subconscious locked in threat mode.
You didn’t fail by stepping outside your comfort zone. You just skipped the foundation that helps your body feel safe in the new space.
Sign 2: You’re Only Focusing on Memory Work
Memory work (like EMDR, NLP, or faster EFT) can be powerful - but on its own, it skips critical steps.
There are two main reasons this backfires:
You’re not ready yet. Most people dive straight into memory work before the subconscious feels safe enough to let go. Those memories have been serving a survival purpose - and without preparation, your brain will cling to them no matter how much you tap or reframe.
You stop too soon. Shifting a memory changes how you see what happened, but that’s just the beginning. True rewiring happens afterward - through daily repetition, aligned actions, and pattern change.
If you’ve ever thought, “I did the memory work, but my symptoms came back,” it’s not because you failed. It’s because you stopped mid-sequence.
Sign 3: You Say, “I Can’t Recognize My Patterns.”
This one’s huge. People often tell me, “I can’t do this work because I can’t recognize my patterns.”
That’s not a flaw - it’s a missing step.
Awareness isn’t magic. It’s a skill you train. Like learning a new language, it takes repetition before the words click.
Most people are so close to their patterns they can’t see them clearly. It often takes structure, guidance, or a coach to reflect them back.
Once you start practicing awareness daily, things shift. You suddenly see the choices, beliefs, and habits driving your symptoms - and that clarity changes everything.
Sign 4: You Try to “Eliminate” Negative Emotions
This is one of the most common mistakes I see. Someone says,
“I notice these negative emotions, so I tap, meditate, or journal them away.”
It makes sense - no one likes sitting in anger, sadness, or shame. But if your goal is to get rid of emotions, you’re missing the foundational step of understanding what emotions actually are.
Emotions aren’t the problem. They’re information.
They reflect how your subconscious is perceiving an experience. You don’t “store” emotions in the body like boxes in a closet - you store perceptions, and those perceptions trigger emotional responses.
When you stop trying to erase emotions and start listening to them as messages, you stop fighting your biology and start working with it.
Sign 5: You Believe “One Thing” Will Fix Everything
This mindset is everywhere:
“If I could just figure out this one thing, I’d finally heal.”
That belief keeps you stuck.
Your symptoms didn’t come from one cause, and they won’t resolve from one solution.
Healing isn’t a single revelation - it’s a sequence. It’s about building safety, shifting perceptions, and living as your 2.0 self through aligned action.
When you chase the “one thing,” you skip the layers that make healing real and lasting.
Sign 6: You’re Piecing Things Together (Or Doing Too Much at Once)
This one might sting a little. If you’re mixing ten different approaches - diet changes, supplements, therapy, somatic work, meditation - you’re not being “thorough.” You’re being scattered.
When you stack multiple protocols without strategy, you confuse your subconscious. It gets mixed messages and stays in survival mode, unsure what to follow.
You can’t outwork an unstructured process. True healing happens when you follow a clear, step-by-step framework that builds safety, awareness, and trust in sequence.
Why You Keep Skipping Steps
Your brain is wired for survival - it wants fast relief, not slow transformation. That’s why it pushes you to skip ahead, chase protocols, or grasp for “the missing piece.”
But the rebellion here is to slow down.
Skipping sends your body the message: “We’re not safe.”
Structure sends the opposite message: “We’re okay. We can heal.”
When you follow a structured process:
Your body finally feels safe.
Your symptoms start to make sense instead of causing panic.
Awareness becomes second nature.
You stop wasting time, money, and energy on the wrong things.
And your healing finally sticks.
When you realize you’ve been skipping steps, it’s not a reason to feel behind - it’s your turning point.
It means your body has been doing exactly what it was designed to do: protect you until it felt safe enough to go deeper.
The rebellion isn’t in doing more. It’s in slowing down, building safety, and honoring the order your body was always trying to show you.
So if you’re ready to stop rushing your healing, start listening.
Your body already knows the way - it’s just waiting for you to follow in sequence.

For 10 years, Jenny worked as a holistic practitioner, relying on supplements, diet, and detox protocols to support healing. But when she faced her own chronic health struggles, those methods failed her.
When Jenny was on her healing journey, she struggled to find a protocol that provided the structure needed to rewire the subconscious. So she created her own process to heal—and that process became the foundation of the Heal & Thrive Framework, a structured, step-by-step method that helps clients identify the subconscious patterns behind their symptoms and rewire them for lasting relief.
Using this exact process, Jenny fully resolved Lyme disease, digestive issues, panic attacks, skin conditions, cystitis, and more. Her own transformation ignited a mission: to help others break free from chronic symptoms and take back control of their health.
At Mind Body Rewire, we have an unwavering belief that healing chronic health issues doesn’t have to be complicated when the focus is on the root cause: the subconscious. We believe every person is fully capable of creating the health and life they desire when they unlock the subconscious programs influencing it.
