4 Healing Mistakes That Are Costing You Time and Money

I’ve spent years working with people experiencing chronic symptoms, and one thing is clear: the biggest obstacle to healing isn’t always the symptoms themselves. It’s the costly mistakes people keep making - mistakes that quietly drain your time, money, and energy, leaving you exhausted and stuck. Even when you think you’re doing everything “right,” avoiding these traps can be the difference between spinning your wheels and making real progress.

In this post, I’m sharing the four most common mistakes I see - and how steering clear of them can save you from burnout, frustration, and wasted resources. Understanding these pitfalls will give you the clarity and focus you need to move forward and reclaim your healing.

Mistake 1: Doing Too Many Protocols at Once

It feels logical: throw everything at the problem - supplements, diets, therapies, mind-body practices. The more the better, right? Wrong. More often than not, “more” backfires.

Why we think more is better:

  • Our brains crave quick problem-solving and action.

  • Culture rewards productivity and pushing through.

  • The wellness world markets “stacking” protocols as the fastest path to results.

What actually happens:

  • The subconscious - the part of you that controls safety and healing - doesn’t rewire under overwhelm.

  • Your nervous system retreats into protection mode, making it harder to integrate change.

  • Progress stalls, confusion rises, and you can’t even tell what (if anything) helped.

I’ve been there. I did “all the things” and ended up exhausted, overwhelmed, and stuck - with no clear signal of what moved the needle. Here’s what I learned: none of it matters if you’re not focusing on the subconscious. Every symptom, pattern, and stuck place has subconscious roots. Until those patterns feel safe enough to change, protocols won’t create lasting results.

Do this instead:

  • Simplify. Stop stacking.

  • Choose one focus: rewiring subconscious patterns of safety and trust.

  • Create a calm, consistent plan your body can actually absorb.

Mistake 2: Making Symptoms the Center of Your Attention

Hyper-focusing on symptoms - watching, fearing, and trying to control every ache, pain, and flare - creates a feedback loop of fear. Your mind becomes a magnifying glass, interpreting every sensation as a threat, which keeps your body in protection instead of repair.

If obsessing over symptoms worked, you’d be symptom-free by now.

Reframe:

  • Symptoms are your body’s language - messages from the subconscious about what needs attention.

  • They’re not the enemy; they’re protective signals.

Identity shift required:

  • Move from reactive (victim to symptoms) to leader (partnering with your body).

  • Replace fear and control with curiosity, trust, and compassion.

  • Listen to symptoms as guides, not threats.

This isn’t denial. It’s a relationship change with your body - one that loosens the survival loop and invites healing.

Mistake 3: Chasing the “Perfect” Mind-Body Modality

When people leave restrictive diets and supplement overload, they often jump straight into hunting for the one mind-body technique - EFT, PSYCH-K, NLP, breathwork, somatic therapy - that will finally crack the code.

I studied many of them. I tapped, I processed, I journaled - all day. But nothing stuck until I understood how my subconscious was wired and what it needed to rewire.

Here’s the truth:

  • Modalities can raise awareness and release tension, but awareness isn’t rewiring.

  • Rewiring requires specific, consistent, tailored actions that teach your nervous system what safety feels like in real life.

  • Most modalities don’t give you the daily, personalized steps to retrain your subconscious rules.

In our world, we don’t worship a modality. We follow the Heal & Thrive framework - a process aligned with how the subconscious actually changes. The power stays with you, not in a tool, technique, or practitioner.

Mistake 4: Winging It Without a Plan

Most people are “doing something” every day - new supplement, new breathwork, new meditation - yet no cohesive plan. Action feels productive, but random action is the fastest route to staying stuck.

I never had a practitioner give me a daily plan for becoming someone new. It was always, “See you next week.” Sessions without a structured path barely moved the needle. That chaos is exactly why I built the step-by-step process I now teach.

Why a plan matters:

  • Clarity: You know what truly needs attention.

  • Confidence: Each step builds toward the goal.

  • Momentum: Small daily actions compound into lasting change.

Without a plan: your subconscious runs on outdated survival rules; your body doesn’t know where to put its energy; you burn out.

How These Four Mistakes Combine (and What to Do Instead)

Like a perfect storm:

  • Too many protocols → overwhelm and shutdown.

  • Symptom obsession → fear loop and vigilance.

  • Modality chasing → outsourcing power.

  • No plan → chaos, inconsistency, burnout.

Good news: none of this is your fault. These are survival strategies plus a fragmented healing industry.

Your path forward:

  • Simplify and focus your healing steps.

  • Shift identity from symptom-focused to empowered healer.

  • Use tools in service of a personalized subconscious rewiring plan - not as the plan.

  • Commit to structure, repetition, and lived evidence your body can trust.

Want Clarity on Your Subconscious Blind Spots?

That’s exactly why I created the Root Cause Report.

What it is: A personalized, in-depth written report that pinpoints your unique subconscious patterns - the exact ones keeping your body stuck in protection mode.

How it works:

  1. Sign up and complete a short form about your symptoms, history, and current approach.

  2. I personally review your answers and write a detailed report.

  3. You receive clear next steps - what to stop, what to start, and what will actually move the needle.

For 10 years, Jenny worked as a holistic practitioner, relying on supplements, diet, and detox protocols to support healing. But when she faced her own chronic health struggles, those methods failed her.

When Jenny was on her healing journey, she struggled to find a protocol that provided the structure needed to rewire the subconscious. So she created her own process to heal—and that process became the foundation of the Heal & Thrive Framework, a structured, step-by-step method that helps clients identify the subconscious patterns behind their symptoms and rewire them for lasting relief.

Using this exact process, Jenny fully resolved Lyme disease, digestive issues, panic attacks, skin conditions, cystitis, and more. Her own transformation ignited a mission: to help others break free from chronic symptoms and take back control of their health.

At Mind Body Rewire, we have an unwavering belief that healing chronic health issues doesn’t have to be complicated when the focus is on the root cause: the subconscious. We believe every person is fully capable of creating the health and life they desire when they unlock the subconscious programs influencing it.
